Even with higher operating temperatures for detectors and other components, there is still a need for custom built coolers. MDL has the expertise in the custom design of coolers for integration with their unique focal planes for various terrestrial and Earth and planetary science instruments. Recently, this group has delivered IDCAs to the Cubesat Infrared Sounder (CIRAS) project. Currently, this group is developing an IDCA for the NASA InVEST project developing Hyperspectral Thermal Imager (HyTI) Cubesat project, which involves a HOT BIRD detector made in MDL.
