Leadership

Under the leadership of JPL Director Dr. Lew Allen, the JPL Microdevices Lab (MDL) was established in 1989 as an integral part of the Center for Space Microelectronic Technologies program office. Since inception, MDL has benefited from the vision, commitment, and constant support of JPL senior management, especially the JPL Office of Chief Scientist and Chief Technologist.

Under the leadership of Professor Jonas Zmuidzinas who was named director of MDL in 2007, and owing to the work and contribution of the talented MDL scientists, technologists, and research staff, development in novel detector area and sensors for space are in progress today.
